We run a research participation scheme for members of the community who are interested in taking part in our projects. Participants are reimbursed for their time.

What services do we offer?

The School of Psychology runs two clinics: The 'UQ Psychology Clinic' for the treatment of psychological disorders; and The 'Child and Family Psychology Clinic' for families with children aged between 1 and 12 years.

Both clinics operate on a referral system, please see the Clinics page for further information.

Associate Professor Kenneth Pakenham gives an encore presentation in the televised Multiple Sclerosis from A to Z series, at the University of Washington in Seattle, USA. He discusses challenges faced by individuals diagnosed with MS, and their caregivers. Dr Pakenham presents research on how MS professionals can help people with MS and their carers effectively cope and adapt in the face of significant life challenges. He presents strategies involving acceptance and mindfulness for enhancing life satisfaction while dealing with illness, caregiving, personal and relationship stressors.

In 2010 we welcomed Alumni to join us to hear Professor Howard Markman talking about Premarital Danger Signs that Predict Divorce and Relationship Distress. Professor Markman gave an entertaining and informative talk about what predicts marital success and distress, focusing on how premarital communication quality provides the roots of future relationship outcomes.
