At the Early Cognitive Development Unit we study infants up until the age of 2-years, to gain a better understanding of their mental abilities. Specifically, we are interested in what they know about feelings, intentions, and desires of both themselves and others. The Early Cognitive Development Unit also studies when toddlers and young children begin to understand that one thing can lead to another. For example, that a map or a picture is a representation of reality.
Several researchers, clinicians and students in the School of Psychology have occasional or on-going studies into psychological aspects of ageing. For those in the Queensland area interested in joining other individuals with similar research and clinical interests, the Queensland Psychology of Ageing Interest Group holds monthly meetings on the St. Lucia and Herston Medical School Campuses. Persons interested in ageing research at UQ more broadly should visit the Centre for Human Ageing website for the latest news and research information.
