PSST Student Consultation

Consultation Timetable

Consultation Timetable for Semester 1 2010 is TBA.

How to make PSST work for you

Please indicate your availability for a consultation in your email to us (e.g., 'I can come on Wednesdays between 12-3pm'). We will get back to you fairly quickly with an offer of an appointment, please make sure you check your email regularly to fast track confirmation of your appointment.

Always send requests for consultations directly to our PSST email, psst@psy.uq.edu.au, rather than individual PSST Tutors.

Please specify what you would like assistance with in your email (e.g., 'I would like some assistance with APA format and essay writing for my PSYC1020 assignment'). If you don’t have a specific need this is fine! You can make an appointment for a general chat anytime!

If you are seeing us about an assignment, bring a hard copy of your assignment printed out. PSST Tutors will not give feedback electronically through track changes. Also bring the assignment criteria sheet and any other important information about the assignment.

Come see us earlier in the semester! If you have an assignment due in Week 10, why not make some headway on it by coming to see us earlier? Then you could make subsequent bookings and get further feedback well before your assignment is due.

Please email us ASAP if you can no longer make an appointment so we can offer this consultation to someone else. This is especially important in Weeks 7-13 when there is a lot of demand for our service.

New Rules: Because of the increasing demand for the PSST service we have had to introduce some new rules to ensure we are being as fair as possible (i.e., to make sure we can see as many students as possible!). We can only make a 30 minute consultation with you once a week and we can only ever make two bookings with you at a time (i.e., one booking per week for two different weeks). In addition, we will not be able to make bookings with you that are more than 4 weeks in advance.

Where to find PSST

We have an office; we like to call it the PSST Fishbowl, which is adjacent to the Psychology Courtyard and PSA Undergraduate Common Room. You can access the Psychology Courtyard from level 2 of building 24a (i.e., the McElwain Psychology building).

Once you have entered the Psychology Courtyard, have a look around for a glass window with the letters 'PSST' on it that's us! Make sure you tap on the glass window to let us know you have arrived! We will come out and let you in for your session.

PSST International Student Welcome Event, Sem 2, 2009

A big thank you to everyone who attended the welcome event on Friday August 21st. The dancers were awesome and it was great to see so many of you turn up and mingle with each other. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we the tutors have. We look forward to seeing you again in our upcoming writing workshops and social event later this semester.
