Some advance notice of the next two school seminars to book in your diaries:
1) Speaker: Professor Chip Scialfa, Director, Perceptual and Cognitive Aging Lab, University of Calgary.
DATE: 02 May 2008
LOCATION: Room 302/303 McElwain, 3-4 pm
TITLE: Eye movements and the deployment of attention in older adults
In conjunction with traditional measures like RT, a series of studies examined the eye movements made when observers learned to search simple and more complex visual displays. In many studies, older and younger adults were compared. The outcomes of these studies provide challenges for contemporary theories of visual attention. They also demonstrate that older adults are quite capable of flexibly and efficiently allocating attention to task-relevant features.
2) Speaker: Professor John Coley, Northeastern University, Boston and Visiting Senior Fellow, School of Psychology, UNSW.
DATE: Thursday, 3 April 2008
LOCATION: Room 306 McElwain, 2-3 pm
