The next talk in the School of Psychology Seminar Series will be held on Friday the 15th of April at 3pm, room 302 of the McElwain Building. It is a great pleasure to welcome Dr. Suddendorf's former mentor Prof Mike Corballis back to Brisbane. Mike will present his theory of the evolution of human language.

Gesture, speech, and the evolution of modernity
The evolution of language will be traced from gestural communication in primates, through the evolution of syntax and theory of mind in the genus Homo, to the emergence of autonomous speech in our own species, Homo sapiens. This last step paved the way for modern human behaviour, and the final extinction of all other hominids.
