Places are limited – register your interest now!
For many people, whether they’re applying for a job or aiming for a place in a postgraduate program, the interview is the most stressful part of the application process. Knowing that you shouldn’t answer your phone or eat your lunch during an interview is one thing, but developing strategies to deal with issues such as not knowing the answer, how to approach a question in terms of the ‘right’ response, or playing for time is another. During this lunchtime session, careers advisors from Student Services will run mock interviews designed to provide a ‘real-life’ interview experience with meaningful feedback. By participating, you will learn how to handle interviews and improve your technique to maximise your chances of being a successful applicant.
The session will run as follows: Before the session, participants will need to complete the pre-interview online presentation (at Student Services - Online Workshop), and read through some examples of interview questions. To ensure a ‘real’ experience of interviewing, interviewees will be expected to coordinate an interview time prior to the session, be punctual, and dress appropriately. Do note that the interview questions will focus on general skills; they will not be specific to any particular position or postgraduate program. Each interviewee will be allocated 15 minutes – 10 minutes for their interview, with 5 minutes for review and questions.
Due to time and staffing restraints, places for this session are strictly limited to 24 students. If you are interested in participating, please email email@example.com by the 18th October. Please indicate clearly in your response that you are rsvp-ing for the session on the 22nd October. We will then contact you to provide you with a time and location for your practice interview.
