Speaker: Jon Mason, PhD, DCP

What's it like to be a clinical psychologist?

Jon holds a PhD in Applied Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. He has spent much of his career working with offenders and people at risk of coming in to contact with the criminal justice system, including those with personality disorders, mental health problems and intellectual disabilities.

Prior to emigrating to Australia in 2009 he was Head of Psychology in a large Medium Secure Unit in England, and since arriving in Queensland has worked as the Director of Clinical Practice for the Department of Communities and the Clinical Director for the first Forensic Disability Service in QLD.  He now works for the private sector as a Partner in a Brisbane-based psychology practice undertaking medico legal, disability and organisational psychology consultancy.

In this talk Jon will talk about the realities of being a clinical psychologist drawing on his extensive experience both in Australia and in the UK.
