The School of Psychology proudly presents:
The Psychonomic Seminar Series 2006
“Refreshing the underpants of knowledge using the spray-on deodorant of science”
This Friday 18th August at 3pm in room 304, Keith Harris will demonstrate how he can open a can of baked beans using his armpit. He will then go on to discuss:
“Following online trails of the suicidal mind: an expotition”
Abstract: Through an online survey and website analysis, this project aims to unveil some of the ways and means by which suicidal individuals use the internet. Results may provide some indication of: whether their efforts are aimed more at self-preservation or self-destruction, self-perceptions of the consequences of their online behaviors, and what types of sites they tend to make use of.
Extract from Keith’s biography (entitled “I, Keith” and available in paperback from all good bookstores): “Keith earned his B.S. in psychology and political science at Michigan State University, and an M.A. in social psychology at Claremont Graduate University. After spending several years lecturing on computer assisted language learning, in the far East, he decided to chuck it all in and pursue his true calling – suicidology.”
