The School of Psychology, University of Queensland is proud to present:
You are invited to a special seminar at 4pm on TUESDAY 3rd MAY in room 306, Psychology (building 24), in which David Weinstein will be talking on:
“Older Driver Licensing Issues in New Zealand”
David Weinstein is a Senior Adviser at the New Zealand Ministry of Transport who is leading a Ministerial Review of Older Driver Licensing Policy in association key stakeholders. He will be in Australia to discuss the work of the Review and the emerging options that are under consideration for changing the New Zealand older driver licensing regime. This includes a proposal for the removal of the mandatory age-based on-road test.
Mr Weinstein will outline the current NZ licensing framework, report on safety data on older drivers, and identify the objectives of the New Zealand Transport Strategy and the Positive Ageing Strategy which are central factors in the current review of older driver licensing. Other issues for discussion include: cognitive assessment of medical fitness to drive, referral processes, off road computer based assessment tools, educational materials, retiring from driving, and maintaining mobility.
